Would you recommend us to others? If YES, Why? If NO, Why not?
Absolutely! The weight loss and health approach was completely different to what I had learned in the past through magazines and other health professionals. I have never had such a successful weight loss transformation before and also have way more energy and my moods seem to have stabilized somewhat. I would recommend GenHealth to people that are struggling with weight loss and don’t know how to maintain it once they reach their goal.
What was your life like before starting with GenHealth Coaching Program?
Before GenHealth I was self conscious and unhappy with my body about 90% of the time. I also lacked in energy and had lots of cravings for carbs. The year before, I’d managed to lose about 10kg on my own but I found it very hard to maintain, as I wasn’t really sure what I was doing – there are so many different messages out there about what to eat, what not to eat, exercise etc etc. As a result I ended up trying many different health fads but nothing seem to work and get the extra weight off. It was very frustrating! I ended up just getting fed up and realised that I needed to make the change for good if I ever wanted to be truly comfortable and happy with the way I looked.
What is the biggest thing(s) you learned during your time with GenHealth Coaching Program?
There were so many important and valuable things I learned during my sessions that I don’t even know where to start. I think the thing that has stuck the most though is about hormones. Before I started with GenHealth, I believed that a calorie was a calorie and they all had the same effect within the body. Now however I know that it is your hormones that are in charge of how much weight you can lose and if they are not performing at their best or they are weakened, then it will be very difficult.
Another significant thing I learned is all about sugar and carbs and the effect they have on weight loss too. I had no idea how damaging sugar was and when I look back at how I was eating, I cringe!
What result did you achieve during your time with GenHealth Coaching Program?
I smashed my goal of losing 4% body fat. I was so proud and stoked that something managed to work and I have never felt better. On the scales I lost about 5-6kg. What I found more impressive though was I lost a total of 5% body fat and over 40cm in body measurements in 12 weeks.
How do you view nutrition/food/your body differently now?
My view has completely changed. I see nutrition as quite a “strategic” process now, meaning that there is way more involved with being healthy and losing weight than just counting calories. Before GenHealth, I would just eat whatever I had in the pantry that I considered “healthy” and hope for the best. Now I plan my entire days worth of eating out according to the guidelines that Tarryn set out for me. It is a little more time consuming but for the results that I got, I think it’s so worth it.
I also really enjoy eating good, nutritious food now, I love the feeling that it gives me and have zero carb cravings at all. Although I enjoy the occasional cheat meal, the feeling that it gives me afterwards physically is horrible. I would never have felt that before but now I get indigestion, feel a bit sick and wake up feeling hungover.
I view my body completely different now as well. I was very unhappy and insecure before GenHealth but I’m starting to feel confident. It makes me so happy when I look in the mirror and can start to see a bit of ab muscle poking through! But it’s not just for vanity reasons either. My body is now starting to become my “friend”, as cheesy as that sounds. I enjoy feeding it good fuel and feel proud of the exercise achievements I’ve made also. I treat my body more kindly now and listen to the signals it gives me.
Is there anything else you’d like other people to know about your experience?
Tarryn is a great coach and support in the community . She absolutely goes out of her way to help you. She explains everything in depth and makes sure you understand. I usually had questions throughout the week that needed answering and she always replied. I’m a very happy client
